Jonathan Hill is the CEO & Primary Counter terrorism Analyst for AssessAfrica LLC, an organization focused on improving public safety and resiliency throughout Africa. He has previously served in the United States Air Force as an EOD technician, has served as a bomb disposal contractor in the Kurdistan region, and has served with the Department of Homeland Security since 2008. He has been invited around the world to speak about C-IED analysis, completed over 440 consecutive days of terrorism analysis between 2014 and 2015, and spoke at the Institute for Security Studies' 5th International Conference in Johannesburg alongside Nigerian partners.

Craig Clark is a Detective/Bomb Technician with the Arapahoe County (Colorado) Sheriff's Office and a Task Force Office with the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force in Denver. He has been employed by Arapahoe County Sheriff's since 2000. He is SWAT breacher and member of the FBI Hazardous Evidence Response Team. As a bomb technician assigned to the Century 16 Theatre shooting/bomb incident, Detective Clark will offer his experiences and insight into this mass casualty incident.

Warren retired in 2008 as the Command Warrant Officer at HQ Land Forces responsible to the UK Director of Counter IED capability for managing operations and maintaining technical standards. Prior to this he held senior positions in 11 EOD Regiment and directed all operational EOD training. He is also a qualified Police CBRN Gold commander and operated as the EOD Plans Officer for the Technical Response Force.

Warren has worked with many military and law enforcement agencies as a consultant for Counter Terrorist projects, designing bespoke training and developing capability. He was recently engaged with West Midlands Fire Service to support the development of their Specialist Response capability and to provide regional CT training. Warren is also a registered with UNOPS as a C-IED Advisor and with UN Security Council Affairs Division as a Weapons Inspector.

Susan Mabbett is a Sergeant with West Midlands Police force in the UK, she is currently a staff officer to the Assistant Chief Constable in charge of operations for the force. Her specialist role is as a CBRN police responder. She has also served as the force lead for CBRN operations and developed the force’s protocols for suspected terrorist CBRN incidents, illicit drug laboratories and chemical suicides. She also developed force plans for responding to terrorist incidents such as: Marauding Terrorism, IEDs and siege; her role included delivery of regular multi-agency training and exercising in this field.

Ebrahim Ashabi was born in Iran as a Shiite Muslim. He was forced into self-exile in 1982 following the Islamic Revolution and the subsequent war with Iraq. After spending time in Europe, he was able to reach New York City, where he lived for a time before moving to Washington DC. Mr. Ashabi eventually settled in California and joined the Long Beach Police Department in 1997. From 2004 to 2010 he was assigned to the Long Beach Police Department's Office of Counter Terrorism, where he was responsible for collecting, analyzing, and investigating criminal intelligence related to international and domestic terrorism, organized crime, and extremist activities. Mr. Ashabi went to Afghanistan in 2010 – 2011 and assisted the U.S. Coalition Forces with counter IED efforts. Upon his return, he joined the Beverly Hills Police Department where he is currently assigned to patrol duties and is member of the SWAT and Sniper team. He has been training and teaching law enforcement and U.S. Military regarding Islam, the Middle East, and terrorism since 2003. Mr. Ashabi holds a Bachelor’s degree from The University of La Verne and a Master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. He published his first book in 2010, The Evolution of Radical Islam, before deploying to Afghanistan.

Detective Robert Smith is a bomb technician and K9 handler for the Charleston County (South Carolina) Metro Bomb Squad with 23 years of experience. He is a frequent instructor on topics related to home made explosives. His presentation details the August 4, 2007 traffic stop and encounter with two Islamist terrorists in South Carolina who were engaged in targeting US military personnel with IED's that contained home made explosives.

Tim Cooper started in law enforcement with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1970 and retired in 2008. During that period, he served 29 years in the military reserve (Army) achieving the rank of First Sergeant/E-8. Tim has worked and instructed in England, Germany, Korea, Iraq and throughout the United States. He spent eighteen years as a certified Public Safety Bomb Technician with LAPD, specializing in firearms instruction, military ordnance, chemical warfare defense, explosive K-9 handling and the forensic investigation of bombings. He has been a Core Instructor for Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives instructing advanced explosives and for the Department of Defense with Post Blast and forensics. Tim has continued to conduct research and education for the Bomb Technician community.

Concerning this presentation on the serial “IRS bomber”, he was on the bomb squad team that initially responded to the location and rendered safe a 2000-pound truck bomb outside a Federal Building and densely populated area in West Los Angeles.

Clayton Buchanan: Employed with the Sacramento Police Department since 2008. ​Clayton Buchanan is currently assigned to Regional Transit and as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and K9 Officer. Prior to working for the Sacramento Police Department​ he​ served 10 years in the US. Navy as an EOD technician. ​Clayton was assigned to several different teams while in the military to include; ​direct action/ hostage rescue, stabilization, ready detachment, and ​EOD ​instructor.

Ryan Oliver: Employed with the Sacramento Police Department since 2000. ​Ryan is currently assigned to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as a Task Force Officer. Previously assigned as a Crime Suppression Task Force Officer, Field Training Officer, Problem Oriented Policing Officer, and Patrol Officer. Responsible as the lead case agent on several long term multiple jurisdiction investigations.
